José Ramón Barañano, Ambassador of Spain to India and Director, NGMA on Friday 30 th November 2018 from 5:30 pm onwards.

‘ART ADDA’ is a cultural platform for art lover, artists, art connoisseurs, students and teachers etc. to meet, discuss, share ideas and knowledge as well as interact on various aspects and element of art and activity in our society. This program is held on the last Friday of every month.

PhY is an art installation that results from the research taken out by Mr. Juanli Carrión (artist, Spain/US) and Ms. Blanca de la Torre (curator, Spain) following a 10 day trip along the Yamuna river, from Yamuna Nagar to Allahabad. PhY is a multidisciplinary work that combines video, action, research documentation and a mural installation made of natural food dyes and the pollution found in the Yamuna River. PhY intends to raise awareness through art about the situation of the Yamuna. The art installation reflects on the need to act urgently and decisively, seeking the active engagement of both local and international actors in the effort to rejuvenate our water courses and tackling pollution.

The Embassy of Spain in India remains committed to the Yamuna river rejuvenation. Last year, the Embassy presented The Yamuna River Project, in collaboration with the Delhi Jal Board and the University of Virginia. The project was praised as being the only suitable solution for the effective rejuvenation of the Yamuna and its natural, human and economic systems. PhY is an artistic invitation to acknowledge the problems than the river faces and to engage on the solutions that The Yamuna River Project proposes

“I am delighted that the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), New Delhi, is organizing ART ADDA on awareness and rejuvenation of river Yamuna, the life line of

the National Capital Delhi. I hope our collaborative efforts with the Embassy of Spain are able to imprint the minds of all art lovers and citizens to bring back Yamuna to its purest form.” - Ms. Ritu Sharma, Director, NGMA Delhi
